Making witness bracelets is a great activity for young and old alike.
After making the bracelets they can be given to the residents as gifts. Read about this activity
in our "Love Notes" Newsletter.
Start with a 13 inch strip of rawhide straping, and prepare to slide on
plastic beads in black, red, white, blue, green, and gold.
Tie a single knot about 4 inches from one end.
Slide on one bead of each color in the sequence listed.
Tie another knot after the gold bead.
When giving the bracelet to a resident, try explaining it as follows:
First Knot-When you were born, God loved you and planned your
life. (John 10:10)
Black Bead-Sin separates us from God. (John 3)
Red Bead-Jesus shed His Blood on the cross to pay for our sins.
(Romans 5:8)
White Bead-We are cleansed and forgiven when we accept Jesus as
Lord. (Acts 3)
Blue Bead-When we confess our faith at baptism, we tell what
Jesus did for us. (Romans 10:9-11)
Green Bead-Believers grow spiritually by praying, reading the
Bible, and sharing Jesus with others. (2 Peter 3:18)
Gold Bead-We will share heaven and glory with Jesus forever.
(Revelation 21:1-3)
Last Knot-When we die, each of us will stand before God.
(Hebrews 9:27)
The following prayer may be useful after explaining the bracelet to a
resident:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and need your forgiveness.
Right now I invite you into my heart to be my Savior and Lord. Thank
you for giving me your gift of eternal life.
