Seniors EE is a ministry of Evangelism Explosion (EE) which equips members of your church to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ and His wonderful gift of eternal life to seniors, many of whom are confined by age or illness to nursing homes.

Meanwhile, nursing homes are the targets of evangelistic outreach in the United States. Evangelism Explosion calls the program Senior's EE. Robbin Bernhardt is the director. She says they're equipping the local church to minister to those who are confined by age or illness. She says this is an incredibly open mission field.

"What we have found is that 60-percent of the nursing home residents never even have a visitor. And that it was projected that over 50-million people now living in the United States will spend their last days in nursing homes. So, we need to become aware of the opportunity and obligation to nursing home ministry." Bernhardt's prayer is that this kind of ministry catches on like wild fire. "Because it's such a neglected area. Aging statistics have stated that by the year 2025 that there will be two senior adults for every teenager. And, that those over 65 are the fastest growing age group. So, faced with those numbers we really need to get out there and do something."

In Mark 16:15 Christ commands you to go and share His Good News with every person. That includes the forgotten, lonely, depressed, and disabled elderly in nursing homes.

In 2 Peter 3:9 we're told that the Lord is long-suffering and not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Some people have lived for decades and not come to grips with God. Many have simply not heard the Gospel. Others have steadfastly ignored it for seventy, eighty or more years. And for now, for the first time, God is bringing them to the awareness that this may be the last page of their lives.

In Luke 10:25-37 Jesus, in His story of the Good Samaritan, taught that we are to love and reach out to the hurting, needy people. Not far from your church in a nursing home are lonely, discouraged, forgotten hurting people.

The question for you is---will you like the calloused Levite or priest in Jesus' story, pass by on the other side or will you like the compassionate Samaritan go to these needy people to show Christ"s love and share His saving Gospel?
