National Day of Prayer - May 3, 2012

"One Nation Under God".

The 61th Annual National Day of Prayer will take place Thursday, May 3, 2012. Millions will unite in prayer as thousands of events will take place from coast to coast. The theme for this year is "One Nation Under God".

Dr. David Jeremiah will lead the nation in prayer as the 2012 Honorary Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force.

Please visit the Official National Day of Prayer Web Site.

"As a sign of unity, we are asking people to pray the Prayer for the Nation at noon on May 3, wherever they are. Some will be at a public prayer observance at that time, while others will be sitting in front of their desks at work. Regardless of his or her location, it is important that His people, who are called by His name, seek Him in unity. If people participate in this form of corporate prayer, it will be like a wave of prayer flowing across our country. "

We are suggesting that those involved with nursing home ministry make arrangements to participate in The National Day of Prayer at the facility where they make they regular visits but at the time indicated. It will be a blessing to the residents, staff, and visitors. You can make copies of this prayer to hand out in Microsoft Word Format by clicking here.

2012 National Prayer

Dr. David Jeremiah: 2012 Honorary Chairman, National Day of Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Every good gift and perfect gift comes from You. You are a faithful God and Your mercy endures forever.

You have promised to bless the nation that trusts in You. Our currency proclaims “In God We Trust,” but in our culture we are far from You.

In the words of the prophet Daniel, “We have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.”

We come before You once more, seeking Your forgiveness and mercy. You, O God, are our only hope… Hear our prayer and, for Your honor’s sake, shine Your face upon this nation.

Give our leaders the desire to seek Your wisdom and the courage to follow Your guidance… and watch over the men and women of our armed forces as they sacrifice for the cause of freedom.

We give You thanks for all You have done for us, and we earnestly pray that You will help us become, once again, a nation whose God is the Lord.

In the name of Your Son, and our Savior, we pray this prayer.

Amen
