Be familar with the Nursing Home Bill of Rights

Be Familar with the HIPPA Privacy Rules - What is said and learned there stays there! Photos only with full permission.

Ask permission of resident before entering their room, which is there Home.

Be gentle and caring-show them Christ's Love.

Speak slowly and in a moderate tone.

Ask questions about the present and their past.

Try to position yourself at their eye level particulary if they are in bed, seated, or in a wheelchair.

NEVER, NEVER:

Give food or drink to a resident without checking with nurse. This includes water.

Remove any body restraints or attempt to lift resident up in or out of a wheelchair. Ask a nurse.

Give resident items that they could harm themselves with, like pins or small objects.

Open an outside door for a resident. Always close when leaving.

Visit when you have a cold.
